Manna meme

During the last few weeks I’ve been pondering and praying about what one word I should focus on during 2018 to help me understand lessons God might want to teach me this year. Here are a few of the words I’ve been considering:

  • Comfort

  • Spirit

  • Wait

  • Noble

  • Victory

  • Grace

  • Humility

  • Generosity

  • Glory

  • Gifts

  • Mercy

  • Expectation

Aren’t those nice words? Lovely to the ears; soft to the heart. I could be happy with any one of them.

So which word did God end up placing on my heart to focus on this year? Manna.

Huh? Is that an actual word?

He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you
with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you
that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes
from the mouth of the Lord
(Deuteronomy 8:2-5).

As I head into 2018, I will keep my mind and heart open for lessons God will teach me, related to the word manna. It definitely feels like an extension of last year’s word temple—relating to feeding my physical body healthy foods and feeding my soul nourishment from God’s Word.

But as in all things related to Him, I will continue the prayer which I shared with you last week:

Lord, help me live with excited expectation for what you have planned. Amen.
